freeGuard Capture Appliance User’s Manual

10 Local Disk

All the captured records of network traffic are stored in the built-in hard disk.
The Web interface of ICR appliance provides a summary report of disk space usage based
on the network protocols and users.

The administrator may decide the storage time for records of every network protocol. This
helps the system to optimize the usage of the built-in hard drive, avoiding waste and plan
the storage space for future data capturing.

The “Local Disk” menu contains two sub menus,

Total usable capacity of the local hard drive for record capturing.

Service
The 8 major services to be recorded, namely SMTP, POP3, HTTP, IM, Web SMTP, Web
POP3, FTP and Telnet.

Duration
The storage duration of records is shown in the fo rmat “YY/MM/DD”.

z

Avg. Size / Day
The average traffic per day of a specific service is derived from the storage duration.

z

Storage Time (0: Not Record)
Records of each service can be assigned a storage time and will be deleted when due.

z

Estimated Storage Utilization* (Percentage)

It has the estimation of how much space will be used based on the value of storage
time and current captured records. The result comes from the multiplication of Avg.
Size / Day and Storage Time.
