EXPOSURE METERING PATTERNS
Exposure metering
With the camera ON, its exposure-metering
system becomes active when the shutter release

is depressed lightly. The reading can be
stored by keeping the shutter release in this
position. AF is locked at the same time.
Multizone average metering
Seven silicon photodiodes located behind the
reflex mirror meter the incident light. Arranged
in five groups, they ensure well-balanced multi-
zone readings that usually give excellent results.
For average light metering only the outer six
diodes are active.
Outside the centre of the frame, this metering
pattern gives added weight to the lower por-
tions of the image as opposed, for example, to
the sky in landscape photos.
