5.7 Lights
Different lighting systems are installed depend-
ing on the area of use and bicycle type . If this is
done using a daytime running light function, the
system will always switch automatically between
low beam and daytime running light .
FLYER with pedal assist over 25 km/h with
high beam
Basic setting: when the system is activated, the
low beam/daytime running light is automatically
switched on . The light button has no function .

Electrical motor
How the electrical motor works
The motor starts working as soon as you start
pedalling when one of the assistance levels has
been selected . The performance of the motor de
-
pends on several factors:
• The force used while pedalling: The assistance
is more gentle when you pedal with low force
than when you pedal with higher force, e .g .
while riding uphill . However, this increases the
power consumption and decreases the range .
• The assistance mode: The higher the level of
assistance, the more power the motor will pro
-
vide . However, high motor performance means
high power consumption . The lowest assis
-
tance mode provides the least assistance but
also the longest range .
Range
Any specified range information is usually ob-
tained under optimal conditions . Ranges achieved
under everyday conditions will usually be shorter .
Please consider this when planning your route .
The range depends on many factors . These in
-
clude battery capacity, motor assistance level
selected, geographical conditions, road surface,
driving style, environmental temperature, the
weight of the rider, tyre pressure and the technical
state of your FLYER e-bike.
Extreme ambient temperatures may reduce the
range . The operating temperature should be kept
within the range from -5 degrees to 40 degrees.
Driving without drive assistance
You can also ride your FLYER without drive as
-
sistance by selecting the assistance level “OFF” .
However, you must ensure that your system is
always switched on .
Never drive without a battery or with your
system switched off, as the functions of
the operating unit and the lighting func
-
tions are not available in this case .
Always remove the battery before clean
-
ing, maintaining or repairing your e-bike.
Ensure that you do not touch and thus
possibly connect contacts when clean
-
ing or maintaining the battery . You risk
being hurt and the battery may suffer
damage if the contacts are live .
Do not use a strong water jet or high-pres-
sure cleaner for cleaning . The cleaning
liquid may enter sealed bearings due to
high pressure, dilute the lubricant and in
-
crease friction . As a result, rust is formed
which destroys the bearings . Cleaning
with a high-pressure cleaner may dam-
age the electrical system .
The following are not suitable for cleaning
your FLYER e-bike:
• Acids
• Fats
• Oil
• Brake cleaner (only to use on brake
discs)
•
Solvent-based liquids.
These damage the surfaces and contrib
-
ute to wear on the FLYER e-bike.
After use, ensure that you dispose of the
lubricant, cleaning and care products in
an environmentally friendly way . These
substances do not belong in domestic
waste, in the drain or in natural environ
-
ments .
Smooth operation and durability of your
FLYER e-bike depend on appropriate
maintenance and care for your FLYER .
• Regularly clean your FLYER with
warm water, small amounts of clean
-
ing agent and a sponge .
• While cleaning the FLYER, always
check your e-bike for cracks, notches
or material deformities .
• Damaged parts must be replaced with
original spare parts . Please only ride
your FLYER again after this check
has been carried out .
• Have any paint damage removed by
your FLYER specialist retailer .
Further important information concerning care for
your FLYER e-bike is provided on the website of
the respective component manufacturer .
Speed sensor
The speed sensor is used to show the speed in
the FLYER display and correctly calculate the as
-
sistance needed .
The speed sensor and the associated spoke
magnet must be fastened so that the distance be
