The
Port A Suction
aspirator (1) is a portable professional unit for home use that is specifically designed
for patients who have undergone permanent tracheotomy. The unit is equipped with a vacuum regulation
knob (4), a vacuum gauge (5) and a 1000 ml collection jar (16) with a protection device preventing entrance
of liquid in the suction pump through a float shut-off located in the collection jar lid. This unit is handy,
easy to use, reliable, resistant and silent and does not need lubrication. This model features a rechargeable
battery and can also operate in cars or boats through the cigarette-lighter socket. The

aspirator is supplied with the following FLAEM accessories: 1000 ml collection jar (16) with float shut-off
protection device (11), cigarette-lighter cord, multivoltage power unit, connection tubes (8/10/15),
disposable
suction catheter for aspirator (18),
disposable
manual suction regulator (17) and
disposable
antibacterial
filter (9).

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
This is a medical device. It is to be used only upon medical prescription and must be operated
in strict accordance with this manual. It is important that the patient reads and understands the
information provided for use and care of the unit. Please contact your dealer with any questions
you may have.
The manufacturer takes every step necessary to ensure utmost product quality and safety. However,
as for all electrical appliances, some basic safety rules should be followed even if the unit operates at
very low voltage.
• Children and disabled persons should always use the unit under strict supervision of an adult who
has read this manual.
• Never use adaptors for power supplies different from the one indicated on the bottom of the unit.
Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
• The unit should not be used in the presence of anaesthetic substances inflammable with air, oxygen
or nitrous oxide.
Do not handle the power supply unit with wet hands. Never use the unit while having a bath or
shower. Never leave the unit close to water, never immerse it in any liquid, do not wet. Should it
fall into water, unplug immediately before reaching for the unit. Do not operate the unit if the cord or
plug is damaged or wet (return it immediately to an authorised service dealer).
• Unit with case not protected against ingress of liquids.
• Servicing and/or maintenance may only be carried out by authorised personnel. Unauthorised repair
voids the warranty.
• Make sure that all connections are properly made and that the jar lid is properly closed in order to
prevent suction leaks.
• Be careful not to knock the collection jar over while connected to the operating unit as liquid might
be aspirated back into the unit and damage the pump. Should this occur, immediately stop the
aspirator. The collection jar should immediately be emptied and cleaned.(Return it to an authorised
service dealer).
• The float shut-off protection device (11) stops product suction; empty the collection jar (16) and clean it.
• The suction catheter and the manual suction regulator are sterile and
disposable
; they should be
replaced after each application.
• Ensure the cannula is used prior to the expiry date and check that the sterile package of the cannula
has not been damaged.

the incorrect use of this product or improper handling of the product by third parties or if used
when the packaging has been damaged. DO NOT USE IF STERILITY HAS BEEN COMPROMISED.
• The
disposable
antibacterial filter should be replaced within 24 hours after its first use.

case of failure.
• The provided power supply unit is specifically designed for use with the
Port A Suction
. Never use
this power supply unit with other devices or for uses different from the one described in this manual
and never use the
Port A Suction
with other power supply units.
The appliance contains a sealed lead-acid storage battery. Used batteries must be disposed
of in compliance with the prevailing legislation in respect of toxic/hazardous waste management.
