Intelligent Fan Control

Overview

The CiTRANS R820 fan control card works in either intelligent or manual mode.

Intelligent mode: The fan rotation speed is automatically adjusted according to

the temperature reported by each card of the equipment.

Manual mode: The fan unit rotates according to the speed set in the

OTNM2000. Optional speeds include full speed, high speed, intermediate and

high speed, intermediate speed, low and intermediate speed, low speed, and

ultra-low speed.

Warning:

In manual mode, changes in the equipment temperature cannot be

monitored in real time, which may result in damages to the equipment.

When the equipment runs normally, ensure that the fan control card

works in intelligent mode.

Function Implementation

The fan control card adopts the slow start mode to reduce the impacts on the

equipment when fans are started. In intelligent mode, fans run at the medium speed

after the fans are started and before the core switch card controls the fans.

After core switch card controls the fans, it periodically collects the temperature

information reported by each card inside the equipment, compares the

collected information with the built-in fan rotation speed parameters of each

card to determine the fan speed choice for the fans.

The fan control card controls the speed of fans according to the fan speed

choice sent by the core switch card to ensure a proper air cooling effect of the

equipment.

When a fan is faulty, the fan control card sends the fault information to the core

switch card and reports the fan faulty alarm to the OTNM2000.
