Description of the operating modes
The behaviour of the CTEL system is fundamentally influenced by the set operating mode. The following
criteria are particularly decisive for the selection of the operating mode:
–
Type of installation (permanent or flexible)
–
Available address space (large or strongly limited)
4.1.1
Manual configuration (tool change mode)
Benefits
Manual configuration of the I/Os offers the possibility to replace the connected I-port devices during
operation. I/O configuration and I/O length are determined together for all I-ports. Each I-port device
that corresponds to this configuration can be connected during operation.
For permanently established I/O lengths, observe that the connected modules must not
exceed the set I/O lengths. Otherwise, an I-port configuration error is output
(
è
5.7.2 “Manual configuration” operating mode).
Select manual configuration
For manual configuration, it must be determined through the DIL switches S1.1 and S1.2 whether the
CTEL master module at all 4 I-ports makes available only inputs (pure input module), only outputs (pure
output module), or inputs and outputs (mixed operation) (
è
I/O lengths
The I/O length is determined together for all 4 I-ports through the DIL switches 2. An I/O length of
4 bytes per I-port corresponds to a setting of 16 bytes, for example (
è
Example:
The following devices should be connected to the CTEL master module at system start:
–
Output module with 16 outputs (2 bytes O)
–
Input module with 8 inputs (1 byte I)
–
Valve terminal with 32 outputs (4 bytes O)
–
Input module with 16 inputs (2 bytes I)
Since devices with inputs and outputs should be connected, the CTEL master module must be set to
“mixed operation” (switch S1.1 and S1.2 to “ON”).
The I/O length results from the device with the highest I/O requirements, in this case
4 bytes for the valve terminal.
Since no individual I/O lengths are possible with the manual configuration, an I/O length of 4 bytes per
I-port, that is 16 bytes (for all I-ports together) must be selected (switch S2.1 to “OFF”, S2.2 to “ON”).
The configuration presetting selected through this is thus 16 bytes I/16 bytes O.
