1 Performance Features of the RFID-Tunnel
This application note describes the setup, tuning of the antennas and the configuration of the
reader as part of an RFID-Tunnel.
The RFID-Tunnel is used to read multiple tagged objects or goods. The transponders on these
objects can be in all possible reading orientations as they pass through the RFID-Tunnel.
In set-up described here two antennas are necessary for each reading orientation of the
Transponders and will be activated simultaneous over a power splitter.
The three pairs of opposing antennas form gates that have the same orientation as the
Transponders. A multiplexer is switching between the antenna pairs (1-3 gates).
Both antenna currents are in the phase generating a strong common magnetic field, which is
capable of activating and reading small or a large numbers of Transponders.
