Optimisation of the reading speed
When the serial number of a Transponder will be read with the command „Inventory“, this Trans-
ponder will be switched quiet with the ISO 15693 command „Stay Quiet“. That means the Trans-
ponder will not answer the following Inventory commands and the reader will search for more
Transponder answers.
Because of the switching of the antennas from X,Y and Z orientation in a RFID tunnel, the HF-filed
will be switched off for a short time and the Transponders fall back into its reset state. Because of
that, that
ô
s why the serial number will be read again, with one of the next Inventory commands.
Due to a new „Advanced Quiet“ function of some Transponders, the chip will remain in the Quiet
Mode for defined time (depending on the chip) and this will avoid that the Transponders will be
read more then once.
If all Transponder were read in all orientations, the “Reset to ready” command allows the user to
release all tags in Quiet Mode at once.
Due to the number of commands is reduced, the reader necessarily in all Transponders in the tun-
nel to read. The reading rate will larger and the read rate becomes more reliable, since dependent
on the retention time in the tunnel all Transponders are several times read.
4.1 Reading speed with and without Advanced Quiet Function
Normally, you have to calculate with a reading speed of 40-50 Transponders (ISO 15693) per sec-
ond in a interference free environment. If you move a large number of Transponders ( more than
50 pieces) through the RFID- tunnel, a lot of these Transponders will be read of more than one
antenna. This could reduce the reading speed to 13-17 Transponders per second
If the new function „Advanced Quiet“ in the reader is switched on, the reading speed decrease just
15%-20%, only.
Example 1:
Average reading speed with (UID) 50 piece ISO 15693 Transponders (Infineon SRF55V01P my-d
light) in random orientation with the above described RFID-tunnel.
Reader configuration: 1 Timeslot, MUX-Valid-Time=500ms
