A separate 2 way switch for connecting 3 wheel drive is situated
on the battery charger box. When switched in the on position,
the 3 wheel drive is activated, when the handle switch is
activated in the first steep (slow speed). Handle switch second
step gives only drive on front wheel.
3.6 SAFETY INSTRUCTION.
When using the SPIDER you must always make sure that the
necessary stability is maintained. The control system secures
that the maximum reachable load according to the outreach is
limited by the chosen positions of the outriggers.
When max. capacity has been reached, a red “Stability” light on
the control box and on the outriggers with minimum load light
up. This indicates that the “cut-out” zone, has been reached.
Simultaneously all movements that could further reduce stability
are stopped. Only movements that will reduce the working radius
and centre the load are permitted. “Boom In” and “Boom Up”.
If the work demands a bigger outreach the outriggers must be
changed if the “cut-out” zone has been reached.
Changing the position of the outrigger shall only be performed
with platform in transport position and basket dismounted.
Safe work with the SPIDER demands that the instructions for
use and maintenance are followed, and that the daily safety
check is performed prior to the operation of the platform.
3.6.1 Daily Safety Checks
1.
Perform the daily check of safety system, and check the
platform for any defects such as: damaged cables or
chains; hydraulic leaks; loose wiring, structural damage,
damaged basket mounting brackets, tire damage, etc.

Do not exceed the rated maximum payload of the platform.
3.
Check that all controls are functioning correctly in an area
free from obstructions.
4.
Check that all placards and decals are easily readable and
in place.
5.
The platform must be on hard flat ground and level.
6.
According to National Standards the platform must only be
used by qualified trained personnel.
7.
Work has to be stopped when wind exceeds 20 knots
(Windforce 6 after Beaufort).
8.
Work near on high voltage installations is prohibited.
THE
SPIDER IS NOT INSULATED.
9.
When working on public roads or places, the working area must
be corded off and surrounded by signs of flashing yellow lights.
10. When the SPIDER is left unattended, it must be secured
against unauthorised use.
11. Do not operate the platform if it has a malfunction.
12. Do not operate unless all railings are in place and in
good condition.
13. Do not modify or remove any safety devices, placards or any
other part of the SPIDER, or use unauthorised components
for repairs. Modification without approval is an OSHA violation.
The platform must be checked for any malfunctions and greased
as per manufacturers specification.
The platform must have an annual inspection performed by a
certified aerial lift company.
