3 Installation requirements
3.1 Points to note about the fire
This device can be built into an existing or new chimney.
(For minimum false chimney breast dimensions, see fig.2.4 and
Size Drawing chapter 9).
For the supply of combustion air and the discharge of combustion
gasses, you must always use the Faber recommended discharge
materials and flue gas fan from Exodraft (Inaterm) type
RSV20041. (Fig. 1.0)
>
PLEASE NOTE: Only when using these materials can
Faber guarantee the safe and proper operation of the
appliance.
Always install the combustion air supply grilles until beyond the
false chimney breast. (fig.1.1B and D)
For transport safety, the flexible ducts, cables and air pressure
pipes/hoses are secured with tie-wraps.
Always remove these after installation! The air pressure pipes/
hoses are provided with colour codes. Complete the connecti-
ons as per colour.
3.2
Points to note about the installation box,
control unit and routing ducts
The gas control block and control unit (fig.1.8) are mounted within
an installation box (fig. 1.6A), which is sealed with a plastic cover
and removable door. (Fig. 1.2)
The shape and construction of the control unit guarantees proper
ventilation of the electronics and gas control block, obstruction of
this ventilation will affect the performance of the fire and damage
the components!
Before fitting the false chimney breast, the installation box (and also
the fire) must be positioned correctly and levelled.
>
PLEASE NOTE: For correct functioning of the ITC, the
installation box must be placed level and horizontally.
(with the hinges at the left or right, not at the top or
bottom)
Make sure that the front of the installation box is flush with the
finished wall. (see dotted line F. fig. 1.2)
After finishing the false chimney breast, the frame and door of the
installation box may be mounted (fig.1.4)
Ensure that not only the plug, but also the gas tap and connections
of the air pressure tubes can be easily reached. To this end, you
could use an additional service door or a removable grille. Make
sure to properly connect the air pressure ducts, P2 to P2 (red) and
P1 to P1 (green) (see fig1.3 and fig2.4)
3.2.1
Points to note on the electrical connection
For power supply, there must be an earthed 230 VAC – 50Hz wall
socket mounted close to the fireplace.
You can use the on/off switch to turn off the unit. (fig.1.2A)
For installation and servicing purposes, you can pull out the control
unit by removing the plastic cover and unscrewing the retaining nut.
(fig.1.5)
To completely disconnect the power supply to the unit, a
service plug is provided inside the installation box (fig.1.6)
behind the plastic cover. (Fig. 1.6 C and fig 1.8 D)
>
PLEASE NOTE: Having carried out the required service
work to the controls, the plastic cover must be replaced.
(Fig. 1.2)
3.2.1.1 Points to note on the electrical connection of the
flue gas fan
For connecting the flue gas fan, use at least a
3-core 3* 1.5mm2 cable.
•
Take off the cover and feed the cable through the cable
screw gland (fig1.2D).
•
Connect the cable to the thermoplastic connector (fig. 1.3).
3.2.2
Points to note on the gas connection
Gas connection ½” internal (fig. 1.2E)
The gas connection must comply with the applicable local
standards.
Calculate the gas line diameter, guaranteeing the connecting
pressure at the device.
Make sure to use a flexible gas connection of minimum ½
meters extra length, this way you can pull out and, if neces-
sary, replace the control unit for installation and servicing
purposes. So, never use a fixed connection!!!
(Fig. 1.6)
3.2.3
Points to note on the false chimney breast
installation
1. The fire must be installed within a suitable structure usually a
false chimney breast, made using fire proof materials
throughout.
2. The false chimney breast construction should not rest on the
fire.
3. Take the grilles into account (see fig. 1.1 B and D)
4. Always use a lintel or reinforcing bars while bricking the
outlet. They should not be placed directly on the fire.
3.2.3.1 Minimum false chimney breast dimensions
Leave a minimum of 25mm free space behind the fire and 200mm
at the sides.(fig. 2.4B and C)
3.2.3.2 Discharge outlet ventilation and combustion
air supply
The 4Season Premium gas fireplace is connected with a concentric
pipe system, 300/200mm.
The 300mm pipe is for the intake air and the 200mm pipe ensures
the discharge of combustion gasses.
The space above the fireplace must always be ventilated using two
grilles (included) or through a similar alternative with a minimum
free passage of 200cm² per grille. (fig.1.1B)
Place the grilles at least 30cm from the ceiling and install a
protective cover into the false chimney breast directly above the
grilles. (fig. 1.1C)
For the combustion air supply into the unit, use the two grilles
(included) or an alternative with an air passage of at least 100cm²
per grille. (fig. 1.1D)
