To configure indicator LEDs to display node status
1. From the command line interface, type the following command:
cd /config
2. Using a text editor, such as
vi
or
pico
, open the
user_alert.conf
file.
3. Add the lines shown in Figure 4.1 to the end of the file.
4. Save the file and exit the text editor.
The front panel LEDs now indicate when nodes are marked down.
Specific status indicated by the indicator LEDs
This section includes some specific conditions that are not covered in the
definition tables in the
/etc/alertd/alert.conf
file.
Yellow intermittent status indicator LED
A yellow intermittent status LED indicates that the system is not under host
computer control. This might be due to the host being halted or due to a
software or hardware problem that interferes with the host’s control of the
LED.
Green/Yellow solid status indicator LED
When the status indicator LED is solid yellow or green, it indicates that the
BIG-IP system is in a Standby state (yellow) or an Active state (green). It
displays solid green if the system is standalone or if it is the active system of
a redundant system configuration. It displays yellow if the system is the
standby member of a redundant system configuration.
