ing it receives regular maintenance. Refer to the Periodic
Service Schedule for appropriate service intervals (Ref
Fig. 36 on page 19). Refer to Lubrication Points for
appropriate lubrication locations (Ref. Fig. 13 on page 9).
Some maintenance items must be serviced
more frequently on vehicles under severe driv-

Use maximum of three pumps of grease
for each grease fitting - Over greasing
may damage grease seals.
Putting more than three pumps of grease in a grease fit-
ting could damage grease seals and cause premature
bearing failure.
POWERTRAIN MAINTENANCE
Powertrain may be accessed by raising or removing the
rear, forward facing seat. Additional access may be
obtained by raising or removing the cargo deck.
If raising the cargo deck
to gain access to power-
train, raise deck all the
way up and back and allow deck to rest on rear
bumper.
Some service procedures may require the vehicle to be
lifted. Refer to LIFTING THE VEHICLE for proper lifting
procedure and safety information.
Direction Selector
The direction selector is a mechanical device that oper-
ates cables connected to the transmission. If the direc-
tion selector is located on the seat console, the direction
selector may need adjustment to ensure forward and
reverse will fully engage when operated. Adjustment is
made to handle linkage by moving the trunnion as neces-
sary (Ref. Fig. 14 on page 9). The cables are sealed and
do not require lubrication, but may require occasional
adjustment (Ref. Fig. 15 on page 10). The factory
installed length should be maintained.
