18. Next let’ s install the r udder onto the fuselage. G lue the hinges into the r udder fir st with epoxy and
allow to cur e. Use a pushr od to apply epoxy to the holes in the r udder post and push the r udder into
position and wipe away any excess epoxy with a paper towel and denatur ed alcohol.
19. D r ill a hole in the bottom of the r udder 3 inches back fr om the fr ont of the bevel to accept the ball
link for the tiller ar m. S ecur e the ball link with epoxy. W hen dr y slide the tiller ar m into the hole in the
ball link and secur e the tailwheel assembly to the fuse with the pr ovided 3mm bolts. A gain, be sur e to use
blue thr ead lock on all bolts!
20. Next let’ s install the engine. W e have made this pr ocess very easy. I f using a D A -50, D A -60, G P-61 or
D L E -61 ther e ar e dr ill mar k s laser scr ibed on the face of the fir ewall (Please note, the D L E -61 mounting
pattern is slightly different than the D L E -55). I f using another engine or electr ic motor simply download
a template fr om their website and tape it in place over the center ing mar k s that have been laser scr ibed
into the fr ont of the fir ewall. D r ill at the location of the mounting holes. F or best r esults I always use a
pointed r eamer to accur ately mar k the center of the holes then star t dr illing with a 1/16" bit and continue
with pr ogr essively lar ger bits until I achieve the cor r ect hole diameter . T his ensur es that the hole is
accur ately dr illed in the cor r ect location and mak es a much neater hole in the plywood.
