5.3. Assembling the Ventilation Circuit

Step 1. Attach a complete new BVM (1) to the
Y-adapter (2)
Step 2. Attach Y-Adapter (2) to PRV (3)
Step 3. Attach Y-adapter (2) to Manometer (4)
Step 4. Attach Manometer (4) to Aquesure Filter (5)
Step 5. Attach Aquesure Filter (5) to 22mm
Hose (6)
Step 6. Secure the 22mm Hose (6) to the
Straight Adapter (7)
Step 7. Attach Straight Adapter (7) to Patient
Valve (8)
Step 8. Attach Patient Valve Pressure Port (9) to
UI Pressure Sensing tubing (10)
Step 9. Connect Patient Valve (8) to PEEP Valve (11)
Step 10. Attach Patient Valve (8) directly to the Test
Lung (14)
Step 11. Pull apart the two arms of the Resuscitator
Mechanism until they no can no longer
extend. Place the BVM between the two
arms. Push the arms towards each other until
they are in contact with the BVM.
Step 12. Secure BVM to the Resuscitator Mechanism
by looping one end of the elastic band
around the hook and stretching the band
over the BVM ends (Figure 5-3).
Step 13. Place Splashguard (23) over Resuscitator
Mechanism
Step 14. Continue to Section 5.4
NOTE:
For use with Patient, the Patient Valve will need
to be attached to an HME Filter (12) and ETT
(13).
