The insect-killer uses no chemicals or sprays, does not emit smoke or odours, produces no
waste and is environmentally friendly.
The Fly Away Metal 16/30/40 insect-killer is designed to be used indoors, in the home, in work
areas, retail outlets, etc.
Installation
When placing and installing the insect-killer, it is important to take the location of the device in
the room/space into account.
1. Hang the insect-killer centrally in the room; that way, the ultraviolet light can be dispersed
better and attract insects from the entire area.
2. Hang the insect-killer or a wall or in a corner if the room/area is not very large.
3. The best height for the insect-killer is 1.5 to 2 metres off the ground, which is the most
common flying height for insects.
4. The insect-killer can be suspended from the chain or placed on a surface such as a table or
cabinet. Make sure it is on a good stable base.
5. Install your insect-killer in a relatively dark place: not in direct sunlight (windows, doors),
because bright sunlight weakens the insect-
killer’s radiation power. Artificial light does not
weaken the radiation, but makes it work less well.
Use and Maintenance
Using for the first time
Make sure that the power socket you intend using is earthed and the correct voltage (220-230V-
50Hz). Start the insect-killer working by plugging the device in and then setting the ON/OFF
switch (O/I)
to ON (press in ‘
I
’). The insect
-killer is operating.
The insect-killer can be kept switched on (24 hours a day) all year round.
Replacing lamps
To replace a neon tube that is no longer operating, switch the insect-killer off, pull the plug out
of the power socket and remove the collector tray by tilting it slightly to the front (the switch side)
and sliding it out of the device. Place the device with the switch side down and remove the two
screws at the top of the safety screen on the fuse side. Pull the grille slightly downwards and tilt
the grille forward. You can now twist the little neon tube through 90°, out of its attachment
socket and replace it. Place the lamps, screenand tray back into their original position before
using the insect-killer again.
Cleaning
Empty the collector tray regularly by raising it slightly and pulling it out of the insect-killer.
Too much dust will adversely affect the effectiveness of the light and too much dirt will affect the
way insects are destroyed. So clean the
device regularly. To do that, switch it off, pull the plug out of the power socket and remove the
collect tray by raising it slightly and pulling it out of the insect-killer. When you now place the
device on a work surface, you can remove dust and dirt, for example with a vacuum cleaner,
duster or soft brush. Do not use any moisture or corrosive cleaning agents in the insect-killer.
You can dust off the outer side of the device using a soft cloth.
Safety notices
Close supervision is necessary when the product is used near children or incapacitated
persons. The device is not suitable for use by persons (including children) with a physical,
sensual or mental limitation or a lack of experience and knowledge, irrespective of whether
they are being supervised or have been issued with instructions in relation to the use of the
device by a person who is responsible for their safety. Always ensure that children cannot
play with the device. The screen that kills the insects is electrified!
