EMC-compliant assembly
Assembly instructions for screened cables
with metal-encapsulated round plug
connectors (only for 4-pin plug connectors
C1851)
The more demanding and complex electronic devic-
es become, the higher the requirements in relation
to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Only devices
that are free of electromagnetic interference will
provide trouble-free operation.
The connectors on the device input and output
can be a key element for an optimal EMC solution.
Screened connectors that reduce radiated effects
and remove conducted interference are the ideal
solution. Round plug connectors with symmetrical
pin assignments and all-metal housings are positively
predestined for this purpose. The screen function
can be optimally implemented in this case.
NOTICE
In case of assembly with screened cables, the
degree of protection changes to IP65.
Assembling female plug BS4 C1851 (4-pin) and
coupling socket KD C1851 (4-pin)
1. Strip the insulation from the cable sheath,
shield braid and flexible wires in accordance
with the corresponding specifications from the
Stripping length table
.
2. Slide the parts

and the
shield washer
over the cable in the speci-
fied sequence.
3. Spread out the shield braid.
4. Slide the shield washer
over the flexible
wires on the shield braid (see Detail A).
5. Properly solder the flexible wires to the corre-
sponding connections of the contact insert
7
.
6. Any unconnected flexible wires must be prop-
erly insulated (e.g. with shrinkable tubing) to
prevent arcing.
7.
For BS:
Screw the sleeve
6
onto the contact
insert
7
.
Slide the clamping nut
5
over the sleeve

.
For KD:
Place the contact insert
