6:
Using the permanent marker, mark “A” on both ends of the DMX connector.
7:
Disconnect the DMXB wires terminal 3, 9, and 10 of the J2 connector.
8:
Connect the DMXB wires to another 8-pin connector using a precision 3/32” (2.5 mm) flat-blade
screwdriver. DMXB wires connect to the following terminals:
• J2-3 = DMXB-1 (DMXB common)
• J2-9 = DMXB-2 (DMX-)
• J2-10 = DMXB-3 = (DMX+).
9:
Using a permanent marker, mark “B” on both ends of the DMX connector.
Cap ETCLink Wires (if present)
10:
If your enclosure has an ETCLink connection, disconnect the link wires from terminals #11–14 of
the J2 connector.
11:
Secure wires as follows:
a: Cut all bare ends from the link wires.
b: Cap the wire ends with 3/16” (5 mm)
heat shrink (fold back or pinch end of heat shrink while
still warm to seal end).
c: Coil the wires into a neat bundle and secure with a zip tie.
d: Secure the cabling out of the way of the enclosure with tie mounts and zip ties as needed so
it does not interfere with normal enclosure function
.
12:
Finish removing the old backplane metalwork. Discard the old backplane.
Note:
Wire runs for ETCLink are abandoned in the enclosure and can be used in the future
as DMX wire runs in the event that a DMX line must be replaced for any reason.
