Use of parts that withstand cleaning well
18.2 Cleaning procedure recommended by the manufacturer
Always validate the cleaning procedures locally; for more guidance consult either
your manufacturer or the distributor.
The periodic cleaning procedure is recommended for routine processing and maintenance.
The combination of periodic cleaning procedures and disinfection procedures is recom-
mended for event-related concerns such as media spills, visual accumulation of soil and/or
other evidences of contamination. Also, it is recommended to clean and disinfect MAW,
Multi-zone ART Workstation
®
immediately after any media spills.
Periodic cleaning of the device (with no embryos inside)
The use of gloves and good handling techniques are important for successful cleaning.
1.
Power off the device (underside panel).
2.
It is recommended to clean the unit with aqueous 70% isopropyl alcohol. Moisten a
sterile wipe (Gamma Wipe
®
300) and clean all internal and external surfaces of the
device by rubbing the wipe against the surfaces.
3.
After wiping, leave the lids of the device open for some time to ensure that all alcohol
fumes have evaporated.
4.
Finally, use purified or sterile water to wipe the surfaces of the device.
5.
Inspect the device
–
if it is visually clean, consider it ready for use.
6.
Turn on MAW, Multi-zone ART Workstation
®
(underside panel).
If the device is visually not clean, repeat the process from step 2.
18.3 Disinfection procedure recommended by the manufacturer
Disinfection of the device (with no embryos inside)

The use of gloves and good handling techniques are important for successful disin-
fection.
2.
Proceed with the following steps (this procedure has been demonstrated during the
on-site training program as part of the installation protocol):

Complete the full cleaning procedure, except step 6.
4.
Open lids.
5.
Disinfect internal surfaces, the heating inserts plus the glass plate on the top of the
lid with EcaFlo
®
Anolyte. Use sterile wipes (Gamma Wipe
®
300) to apply EcaFlo
®
Anolyte.
