Supply
from
power
generators
The power source can be supplied from different types of generators. However, some generators
may not provide sufficient power for the welding power source to operate correctly. Generators
with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) or with equivalent or better type of regulation, with rated
power 10 KW, are recommended.
Some 120 VAC, 15 A / 20 A electrical outlets fitted with GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter)
protection against a nuisance trip with this equipment due to worn or out of tolerance components
in the GFCI. In such cases have the 120 VAC, 15 A / 20 A GFCI electrical outlet replaced by a
qualified electrician.
NOTE!
The effective input current should be used for the determination of cable size and
supply requirements.
NOTE!
Motor start fuses or thermal circuit breakers are recommended for this application.
Check local requirements for your location.
NOTE!
The recommended time delay fuse or circuit breaker size for 120 V is 30 A. An
individual branch circuit capable of carrying 30 A and protected by fuses or circuit
breaker is recommended for this application. Fuse size is based on not more than
200% of the rated input amperage of the welding power source (based on article 630,
National Electrical Code).
ESAB continuously strives to produce the best product possible and therefore reserves
the right to change, improve or revise the specifications or design of this or any product
without prior notice. Such updates or changes do not entitle the buyer of equipment
previously sold or shipped to the corresponding changes, updates, improvements or
replacement of such items.
The values specified in the table below are optimal values, your values may differ.
Individual equipment may differ from the above specifications due to in part, but not
exclusively, to any one or more of the following; variations or changes in manufactured
components, installation and conditions and local power grid supply conditions.
Enclosure class
The
IP
code indicates the enclosure class, i.e. the degree of protection against penetration by
solid objects or water.
Equipment marked
IP21S
is intended for indoor use.
Application class
The symbol
indicates that the power source is designed for use in areas with increased
electrical hazard.
