Configuring MPC Metal Detector (cont.)

If there is always space between products

(for example always space between indi-
vidual boxes of sugar which the proximity
switch will always detect), set the SPACE
BET PROD? variable to YES. Otherwise al-
ways leave it set to NO.

Adjustment is complete. Be certain to enable

the Proximity Device for normal operation (re-
wire it to the power supply circuit board if wires
were removed in step 5). Verify correct reject
operation with various tramp metal sizes and
product separations.

NOTE: Travel Time, Reject Time, and Window are
normally entered into the MPC as seconds. Vari-
able speed applications require a tachometer input
to accurately adjust Travel Time and Window. In
this case Travel Time and Window are numbers rep-
resenting the number of tachometer pulses required
to shift the detect pulse through memory. In either
case the adjustment of the unit and apparent func-
tion are identical.

OBTAINING MPC REJECT REPORTS

Reject Reports are available from three sources:

LCD
The reject reports may be reviewed on the MPC
display as described in Reject Reports section of
this manual.

PRINTER
Reject Reports may be output directly to a remote
printer. Refer to Appendix A, “PRINTER”.

HOST COMPUTER
A host computer can request reports from the MPC.
Details are contained in the E-Z Tec MPC
Communications Manual MM-237.
