6. The control panel will now ask you if the media printable side is in or out. Select the
appropriate one and press OK.
7. The printer will scan the roll width and position the paper. After this is done
‟
Ready” will display on the printer control panel.
8. You will need to rewind the media to the start position in order to avoid paper
waste. It is recommended to leave a little bit of the roll sticking out of the cover in
order to avoid media hitting the cover and causing jams.
Setting up the Takeup Reel
The media takeup reel will wind media onto a cardboard core as it is printed. This is a
convenient and safe way to deal with printed materials. The tension provided by the
takeup reel and tension bar is also helpful in keeping wavy or curly media flat on the
print surface, avoiding head strikes.
About two meters of paper is required to use the takeup reel. You may need to use the
takeup reel right away which will cause some paper waste, but you can also setup the
takeup reel after a su
ffi
cient amount of media has been printed.
1. Advance the media until it can reach the takeup core. Tape the media to the core
with masking tape.
2. Advance the media until there is enough slack to wind the media up once around
the core. Use the manual controls on the right-side takeup reel roll holder to wrap
the media around once. There are two options to control which way the media will
wrap, print surface in or print surface out.
