Continuous paper is in the paper path.
Press the
Load/Eject
button to remove the continuous paper.
Select
Manual/CSF
as the paper source on the control panel and
insert a new sheet. (See “Switching to single sheets” on page 51 for
more information.)
The paper source is set to tractor feeding.

as the paper source on the control panel. (See
“Buttons and Lights” on page 17.)
The paper is not loaded properly.
See “Loading Single Sheets” on page 45 for instructions on loading
single sheet paper.
The head gap is set incorrectly.
Make sure the Head Gap setting is set to
AUTO
or appropriate
value to match the thickness of your paper. See “Adjusting the
Head Gap” on page 35.
Paper is creased, old, too thin, or too thick.
See “Paper” on page 126 for information on paper specifications
and use new, clean sheets of paper.
Paper does not eject completely.

Press the
LF/FF
button to eject the page. Use paper that is within
the specified range. See the paper specifications in “Paper” on
page 126.
The paper does not feed properly with the optional cut sheet feeder.

What to do
The cut sheet feeder is not installed properly.
Reinstall it as described in “Installing the cut sheet feeder” on
page 112.
The cut sheet feeder cable is not connected to the
printer.
Make sure the cable is connected to the printer properly. See
“Installing the cut sheet feeder” on page 112.
Too many sheets are loaded in the cut sheet
feeder.
Load less than the loading capacity according to the paper type.
See “Cut Sheet Feeder” on page 112 for more information.
The edge guides of the cut sheet feeder are not
positioned correctly.
Align the left edge guide with the arrow mark, then move the right
edge guide to match your paper’s width.
There is only one sheet left in the bin.
Add more paper to the cut sheet feeder.
Continuous paper does not feed properly
