HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE

Insert the key into the console.

See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page
10.

Select the manual mode.

When the key is inserted, the manual mode will be
selected. If you have selected a program, press
the Manual button to reselect the manual mode.

Start the walking belt.

To start the walking belt, press the Start button,
the Speed increase button, or one of the ten num-
bered Speed buttons.

If the Start button or the Speed increase button is
pressed, the walking belt will begin to move at 1
mph. As you exercise, change the speed of the
walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed in-
crease and decrease buttons. Each time a button
is pressed, the speed setting will change by 0.1
mph; if a button is held down, the speed setting
will change in increments of 0.5 mph. Note: After
the buttons are pressed, it may take a moment for
the walking belt to reach the selected speed setting.

If one of the numbered Speed buttons is pressed,
the walking belt will gradually increase in speed
until it reaches the selected speed setting.

To stop the walking belt, press the Stop button.
The time will begin to flash in the left display. To
restart the walking belt, press the Start button, the
Speed increase button, or one of the numbered
Speed buttons.

Change the incline of the treadmill as desired.

To change the incline of the treadmill, press the
Incline increase and decrease buttons. Each time a
button is pressed, the incline will change by 0.5%.
To change the incline setting quickly, press the
numbered Incline buttons. Note: After the buttons
are pressed, it may take a moment for the treadmill
to reach the selected incline setting.

Follow your progress with the two displays.

The left display

—This display will show the

elapsed time, your pace (in

minutes per mile),

and

the incline level of the treadmill

.

Note: When a pro-

gram is selected, this display will show the time
remaining in the program instead of the elapsed
time. Each time the incline of the treadmill
changes, the display will show the incline setting
for several seconds.

The left display will also show a training zone bar
that indicates the approximate intensity of your ex-
ercise. For example, if four to six segments of the
bar appear, the bar shows that your exercise inten-
sity is ideal for weight loss.

When the manual mode is selected, the left display
will also show a track. As you exercise, the indica-
tors around the track will appear in succession
until the entire track is lit. The track will then dis-
appear the indicators will again begin to appear in
succession.

The right display

—This display will show the dis-

tance that you have walked or run, the number of
1/4-mile laps you have completed, the speed of
the walking belt, and the approximate numbers of

calories

and

fat calories

you have burned (see

FAT BURNING on page 24).
