ENCLOSURE 2 DIAMETER CALIBRATION
NOTE!
It is impossible to get an accurate result of the diameter calibration, if
the clamping pressures and other adjustments are not correct. The
length and sharpness of the spikes of the draw rollers also affect the
result.
SETTING OF THE DIAMETER CURVE
1. Select "Test / Calibration" in the upper menu.
2. Select the "Diameter" key and press Enter. Then press
simultaneously keys PS 1 and Cancel. Thus you by-pass the
calibration of the pulse range of the diameter sensor (i.e. the
basic calibration).
3. When the machine asks, whether to reset the curve, press
Enter to indicate resetting.
4. Open the grapple and rotate the programming wheel until you
get the reading corresponding to open position and press
Enter.
5. Then close the grapple and set the millimetre reading
corresponding to that position and press Enter.
6. Handle 5 – 20 pipes of different diameters in the grapple, set
the diameter of each pipe in millimetre and press Enter when
the reading is correct. Do not worry about the text ”Open
grapple” displayed.
7. Repeat the previous actions starting from item 4. The reading
at the bottom is the calibration gauge and the upper reading is
the number of millimetres to be set for the curve. Now the
numbers should correspond to each other after you have
pressed Enter (within 1 mm).
8. Finish the calibration by pressing Cancel.
9. Print out the calibration data and save the printout.
NOTE!
The calibration data is saved in the grapple module. When the
measuring equipment is started, the data is automatically updated to the
measuring equipment. This enables exchange of different types of
grapples without calibration in connection with the exchange, if the
grapple in question has once been calibrated.
