Installing the C3K-2XFP Input/Output Module
This
section
details
the
steps
to
prepare,
install,
and
remove
the
optional
C3K
‐
2XFP
input/output
module
(IOM).
Unpacking the C3K-2XFP IOM
Unpack
the
C3K
‐
2XFP
as
follows:
1.
Open
the
carton
and
remove
the
packing
material
protecting
the
C3K
‐
2XFP.
2.
Verify
the
carton
contents
with
the
items
listed
in
Table 2
‐
2
.
3.
Before
removing
the
IOM
from
the
antistatic
packaging,
it
is
recommended
that
you
use
an
antistatic
wrist
strap
(not
supplied)
to
prevent
damage
from
static
discharge.
To
use
the
wrist
strap,
refer
to
the
instructions
provided
with
your
antistatic
wrist
strap.
4.
Remove
the
tape
seal
on
the
non
‐
conductive
bag
to
remove
the
C3K
‐
2XFP.
5.
If
there
is
a
protective
dust
cover
in
the
XFP
slots,
do
not
remove
it
at
this
time.
Perform
a
visual
inspection
of
the
C3K
‐
2XFP
for
any
signs
of
physical
damage.

Installing the C3K-2XFP into the C3K Switch
This
section
describes
how
to
install
the
optional
C3K
‐
2XFP
into
your
C3K
switch.
The
C3K
switch
must
be
powered
off
before
installing
the
C3K
‐
2XFP
IOM.
To
install
your
C3K
‐
2XFP
into
your
C3K
switch:
1.
Locate
the
coverplate
that
conceals
the
expansion
slot.
Loosen
the
two
captive
screws
on
the
coverplate
and
remove
the
coverplate.
2.
With
your
antistatic
wrist
strap
attached,
gently
insert
the
C3K
‐
2XFP
into
the
guide
rails
(as
displayed
in
Figure 2
‐
1
on
page 2
‐
4)
until
the
IOM
engages
the
connector
on
the
backplane
and
the
module
locks
into
place.
3.
Gently
tighten
the
captive
screws
on
the
front
of
the
C3K
‐
2XFP
IOM.
Note:
Enterasys Networks recommends that you install any options before connecting power to the
switch.
