5.5 Settings
An image of the settings menu can be seen in
Figure 5.8.
From this menu all the necessary device
configurations can be performed. There are three
types of functions or settings that can be found in
the settings menu: operating options, parameter
settings, and additional functions.
The operation options are activated or deactivated
directly in the main screen of the settings menu
via the operation options button. A blue button
indicates a disabled function, while a red one
indicates that the function is enabled. The operating
options are: Show STC curve, APK Connect, Auto
measurement, Auto save, Continuous measurement
and Barcode. Of these options, the only one that
requires additional configuration is Continuous
measurement.
The parameter configuration options are those that
modify certain parameters of the device, either in
general such as date and time, or those that modify
the actual measurement process. Their activation
opens a second screen where the selected setting
can be configured. These options include: Module
settings, Generator settings, Sensor settings, Others
(where the options such as Set date and time, and
Set language can be found).
Additional functions are those that perform
an additional function on top of the I-V curve
measurement. An example of such function is
report generation or firmware update.
These functions are described in detail in the
following sections.
5.5.1 Visualizing the STC curve
This feature permits the display of the curve
extrapolated to STC on the screen. To turn this
feature on or off, go to Settings -> Show STC curve.
This feature is active by default upon turning on
the device. To deactivate it, the button must be
activated each time the machine is turned on. This
option only turns off the display. The extrapolated
curve is still calculated and saved.
5.5.2 APK Connect
The E-1000 has a mobile or a tablet app that
permits remote control. This allows the device
to be transported in a backpack or a case and for
the operator to have his/her hands free for the
connection and disconnection of the circuit under
test
(Figure 5.9.).
The connection between the
E-1000 and the App is made via a WiFi-Direct
connection. Thus, the mobile phone or tablet needs
to have a WiFi connection capability, although this
connection does not need to have Internet access.
