Maintenance
Gasket Replacement
The cast iron fuel loading and ash removal doors of your ENERGY KING Wood/Coal Furnace are
equipped with gaskets to ensure safe operation and an airtight seal. When these gaskets become
worn or damaged, you will need to replace them.
To replace the door gaskets, you will need 3/4-
inch, high temperature rope gasket, available
from your ENERGY KING dealer or hardware
store.
1. Remove the door and lay it face down on
a clean, flat surface.
2. Find the ends of the gasket and pull it off.
3. Using a screwdriver, remove any excess
gasket cement from the gasket channel.
4. If desired, a small drop of gasket cement
may be applied to the corners of the
gasket channel.
5. Lay the new door gasket in the channel,
cutting off any excess gasket rope.
6. Reattach the door. If gasket cement was
applied, keep the door closed until the
cement has fully dried.
To replace the Glass Gasket , you will need
self-adhesive 3/4-inch wide by 1/8-inch thick
flat gasket.
1. Remove the fuel loading door and lay it face
down on a clean, soft surface, such as a
towel.
2. Remove the glass retaining clips & screws.
3. Gently remove the glass from the door frame
and lay it face down on a clean, soft surface,
such as a towel
—be careful not to scratch
the glass.
4. Find the ends of the worn gasket and pull it
off.
5. Remove any adhesive residue from the
glass.
6. Remove the paper from the adhesive back of
the new gasket a little at a time, attaching the
gasket to the perimeter of the glass as you
go.
7. Cut off any excess gasket.
8. Replace the glass into the door frame and
reattach using the glass retaining clips and
screws.
