User's Guide

44

Cleaning the service station

The service station wipes excess ink from the cartridges. However, ink
and dust can accumulate in it. The cartridges can pick up this residue,
resulting in poor print quality. Depending on how frequently you print,
you may want to clean the service station once a month or more
frequently using the following procedure.

To clean the service station:

1. Select Access Cartridges in the printer's software control panel to move

the carrier away from the service station.

2. Raise the printer's top cover.

3. For best results, remove the service station by grasping the tab at the

rear of the service station and lifting the entire service station assembly
out of the printer.

Note

: there are two tabs. Grasp the farthest one and pull forward

slightly before lifting the service station.

4. Rinse the service station and wipers with warm water. Swab any

accumulated ink from the well under the service station. Or, use lint-free
tissues or moistened cotton swabs to remove accumulated ink without
removing the service station from the printer.

5. Dry and replace in the printer. Close the top cover.

6. Select Access Cartridges in the printer's software control panel to return

the carrier to the service station.
