6.6. PROCEDURE TO DETERMINATE THE NECESSARY TRANSVERSAL SECTION
IN CABLE EXTENSION
Next checks must be done. Take the highest section of cable.
1.
The ohmic and inductive resistance of the cable with a 5% permitted loss of voltage,
cos.phi = 0,8 trough the frequency and voltage chart.
For example:
Nominal voltage:
1~ 220 V 50 Hz
Nominal current:
10 A
Cable length: 100 m
Consulting the chart: Current x Length =10x100=1000 Am
Obtained section of 4 mm

Permitted heating for the cable according to VDE (minimum required transversal section
table).
For example:
For 10 A, according to the table, for 15 A or less. The section must be 1 mm.
Therefore, CHOSEN SECTION = 4 mm. ¡IMPORTANT!: chose always the highest
transversal section of the two checks.
