into pre-drilled holes on fireplace side. Measure from face of
fireplace to face of drywall strip to determine final depth. (See
Figure 12)
Attention: When VFH-33 is installed in optional full cabinet
mantel or corner mantel the (4) four nailing flanges shown in
Figure 12 will not be used. The VFH-33 will be attached to the full
cabinet mantel or corner mantel with the (2) two inside mounting
flanges located on the top of the outer casing assembly.

2. Install gas piping to fireplace location. This installation includes
an approved flexible gas line (if allowed by local codes) after
the manual shutoff valve. The flexible gas line must be the last
item installed on the gas piping. See “Gas Supply.”
3. Carefully set fireplace in front of rough opening with back of
fireplace inside wall opening.
4. Attach flexible gas line to fireplace gas regulator. See “Gas
Supply.”
5. Carefully insert fireplace into rough opening.
6. Attach fireplace to floor using wood screws through holes in
bottom of base and top. Open lower louver to locate screw
holes (see Figure 12). Remove top louver section, 4 screws.
Attach fireplace to wood frame using wood screws.
7. Check all gas connections for leaks. See “Gas Supply.”
FBT-1 Trim Kit
The FBT-1, trim kit is to be used with a full mantel, corner mantel
or any wall surface (tile, marble, etc.) that projects beyond the
front of the appliance from flush (0") to 3/8".
1. Lower the door assembly.
2. Remove the front from the inner casing by removing the (2)
hex-head screws that were exposed when the door assembly
was lowered.
3. Remove top louver from appliance by removing (4) truss-
head, Phillips screws.
4. Insert the trim top into the top, interior of the appliance.
Position the (3) slots in the trim top downward. Align the (3)
slots with the (3) screw holes in the top, interior of the
appliance. When the trim top contacts the wall surface secure
the trim top to the appliance with (3) truss-head, Phillips
screws provided in hardware package.
5. Insert trim side left and trim side right into the appliance.
When the trim sides contact the wall surface secure each trim
side to the appliance with (3) truss-head, Phillips screws
provided in hardware package.
6. Secure the trim side left and trim side right to the trim top with
(2) truss-head, Phillips screws provided in hardware package.
7. Replace and attach the top louver to appliance by using the (4)
truss-head, Phillips screws removed in Step 3.
8. Replace and attach the front to the inner casing by using the (2)
hex-head screws removed in Step 2.
9. Installation of FBT-1, trim kit is completed.

Installation Items Needed
• 5/16" hex socket wrench or nut-driver
• Phillips screwdriver
• sealant (resistant to propane gas, not provided)
1. Remove fireplace screen. Remove two screws that hold
fireplace screen in place. These screws are located near
bottom of screen. Lift fireplace screen up and pull out to
remove.
2. To install gas line on VFH-33M and VFH-33T remove (2)
screws that attach log base assembly to fireplace. To install
gas line on VFH-33R remove (2) screws from forward, cover
plate and (2) screws that attach log base assembly to fireplace.
Carefully lift up log base assembly and remove from fireplace
(See Figure 13).
