Introduction

Product Overview

An E Series Digital Servo System consists of an EN Brushless Servo Drive, an
MG (Magna series) Brushless Servo Motor and connecting cables. Each E
Series Drive is compatible with up to three different MG motors depending on
the drive model.

Velocity, torque and position of an E Series Drive can be controlled by an
external controller. The control signals may be analog voltage, pulse train (CW
& CCW), pulse train and direction or quadrature pulses.

There are three Digital Servo Drive models in the E Series: The EN-204, which
supplies 4.5 ARMS, the EN-208, which supplies 9.0 ARMS and the EN-214,
which supplies 13.0 ARMS.

The only mechanical difference between the three E Series Drive models is the
heatsink size. The mounting footprint is the same for all three models.

Manual Overview

This manual is intended for people who are experienced with servo drives and
want to quickly get their E Series Drive installed and set up on their system.
This manual does not cover EMC's PowerTools software which is available
separately from Emerson Motion Control by calling (612) 474-1116.

Operating Modes

You can set up your E Series Drive to operate in the following operating modes

using the Quick Touch Setup method:

• A n a l o g Command Mode (±10VDC = ± maximum velocity or ± peak

torque) with six possible setup combinations.

• P u l s e Follower Mode (pulse and direction at 8192 pulses/revolution).

The operating mode is selected using the Reset/Setup button to choose one of
seven pre-defined setups (this is referred to as the "Quick Touch Setup" in this
manual).
