4.4.1

Description

The AXP640 has two or four AC PSUs depending upon the system configuration. Two PSUs are
used for Hi-line (220VAC) systems while four are used for low-line (110 VDC) systems. The AC
PSUs plug directly into the front of the chassis and delivers power to the backplane. Each input
is rated for 16 amps. The AC PSUs power six AdvancedTCA slots, SAMs, and FTMs.

Power is introduced to the AC PSU using one of 4 IEC AC power cables connected to the rear of
the shelf. Each IEC connector is connected to a single PSU. The 48 VDC output is distributed
from the PSUs in a redundant manner. The two power supply bays on the left form feed A, and
the two on the left form feed B. In the low-line configuration with two supplies per feed,
operate in a current share mode.

4.4.2

PSU Management

The PSUs do not contain IPMC blocks. They have discreet status that is reported through
sensors through SAM-A (0xfe) and SAM-B (0xfc). Voltage and current information may be
obtained through sensors instantiated on SAM-B (0xFC) only. The PSUs are managed by the
Sentry Shelf Management software. For more information, refer
