Function
The safety evaluation unit monitors connected sensors that are equipped with
an NO and an NC contact.
In the process, the switching sequence of the contacts does not play a role.
The safety evaluation unit switches its safety output acc. to the operating
states of the connected senors and connected external contactors.
In the following situations, the safety evaluation unit switches the safety
output through:
- The sensors are actuated correctly.
- The feedback contacts of the external contactors are closed.
In the following situations, the safety evaluation unit switches the safety
output off:
- An NO contact of a connected sensor is opened.
- An NC contact of a connected sensor is closed.
- A fault is present (safety evaluation unit or connected sensor defective).
The control output of the terminals (24 through 26) signals the status of
the safety output:
- When the safety output is closed, contacts 25 and 26 are closed as well.
- When the safety output is open, contacts 24 and 26 are closed.

Waiting period
The waiting period is the maximum time that may pass on a sensor after both
sensor contacts have been actuated.
Safe state
The safety output is opened and/or highly resistive.

Technical specifications
See Technical specifications as of
9
Assembly
- The safety evaluation unit may be installed only in a de-energized state.
- Assembly is permitted only in an installation area that is protected against dust
and moisture.
- Limit the line length for connections to max. 30 m.
- Snap the safety evaluation unit onto a top-hat rail (EN 60715 TH35) in the
switch cabinet.
The safety evaluation unit is fixed into place.
- Connect the safety evaluation unit; see Technical specifications as of
- Ensure that the required safety devices are used; see Technical specifica-
tions as of
- When the safety input is to remain free:
Make sure that the NO contact of this safety input is bypassed.
10 Electrical connection
- The electrical connection may be established only in a de-energized state.
- Make sure that the specifications described in the technical specifications
absolutely must be observed.
When a sensor is connected, the sensor supply voltage (+) and (-) of the terminals
specified in the technical specifications must be used.
Terminal assignment
NOTE
A complete protective insulation acc. to EN 61140 is provided when the device
is installed in a switch cabinet for operation.
11 Commissioning
In any order:
- Actuate the safety sensors.
- Apply operating voltage.
The safety evaluation unit is ready for operation.
The safety evaluation unit switches the safety output through.
NOTE
Please ensure that the EDM input is correctly wired.
NOTE
After the first-time commissioning of a safety evaluation unit, an overall
validation must be performed acc. to the pertinent standards.
12 Maintenance
The inspection of the safety circuit must be performed by specially trained,
authorized personnel acc. to the nationally valid regulations within the required
time periods.
(Recommendation: If no nationally valid regulations are available, the function
check acc. to the applications must be performed pursuant to EN ISO 14119.)
