IWMS
The
IWMS
is an integrated water softening system which controls:
- WATER FILL CIRCUIT
- WATER FILL CONTROL SYSTEM
- WATER SOFTENING SYSTEM
- WATER DRAIN CIRCUIT
- STEAM VENTING SYSTEM
WATER FILL CIRCUIT
The water fill circuit is considered to be in "NORMAL" operating condition when:

- The fill solenoid valve is powered electrically

- The pressure switch is in the "EMPTY" position

- The volumetric tank is empty

- The RESET solenoid valve functions correctly.
OPERATION OF THE CIRCUIT
The fill water coming from the solenoid valve (

) passes through the air-break (

) to the resin container (

)
and fills the resin washing tank (
12
), then passing to the volumetric flow switching device (
13
) which deviates
the water in two directions. A small quantity (1/6) of the water is directed to the volumetric control dosing tank
(
14
); the remaining water (5/6 of the total flow) is ducted directly to the tub.
PATH OF 1/6 OF THE WATER
This part of the water enters the volumetric tank (
14
); when the water reaches the maximum level (full), this
actions the drain siphon which transfers the water through a duct towards the bottom. During this phase, the
water flow generates a dynamic pressure in the pressure chamber of the pressure switch (
17
), thus actioning
the pressure switch, which switches off the solenoid valve, thus allowing the programme to continue.
At the end of the fill cycle, and in any case before the beginning of the subsequent fill cycle, the RESET
solenoid valve (
15
) is actioned in order to ensure that the volumetric tank (
14
) is completely emptied, since
any residual water in the tank would alter the quantity of the water fill.
PATH OF 5/6 OF THE WATER
The greater part of the water passing through the volumetric flow switch (
13
) is directed into the tub in two
directions and in differing quantities.
A small quantity of the water is ducted directly into the tub through the steam vent; the remaining water
passes through a separate duct towards the bottom and flows into the sump.
The main purpose of directing different quantities of water in different directions is to ensure that the
pressure chamber is constantly cleaned and that the level control system functions with the maximum
reliability.
