3.1 Re ceiver Setup and Op er a tion
A. Re ceiver Setup
1. Place the re ceiver and an ten nas where there is a clear
line of sight to the area where the trans mit ter will be
used. Ro tate the an ten nas to sep a rate them by 90 de -
grees. See Part 15 for more in for ma tion.
2. Con nect the power
cord to the re ceiver. Turn the re -
ceiver on and con firm that it is ON by check ing the
main dis play screen. The dis play will show the com -
pany logo, soft ware re vi sion level and then dis play
the main screen with the last chan nel set.
B. Man ual Chan nel Change
1. From the main dis play screen press the MENU but -
ton once to dis play the edit screen.
2. Press SET and the group num ber will flash . The UP
and DOWN but tons al low you to scroll through the
18 fac tory groups and 2 user de fin able groups.
3. When the group you de sire is dis played, press SET
to se
lect that group and the Chan
nel Num
ber will
start flash ing.
4. Scroll to the de sired chan nel, press SET to se lect.

gates any changes made since the last SET.
6. Once the de sired group and chan nel are dis played
(but not flash ing) press MENU twice to re turn to the
main dis play screen.
C. Fre quency As sign ment (User De fined Groups Only)
1. With a User Group (19u or 20u) and chan
nel se

lected in step three, press SET un til the Fre quency
Num ber flashes.
2. Use UP/DOWN to scroll in 25 kHz steps to the de -
sired fre
quency. With the de
sired fre
quency dis
-
played press SET. Hint: hold ing in the ar row key will
in
crease the speed of the scroll. Just re
lease and
press again for fine con trol.
3. Re peat un til all de sired Chan nels in the user group
are as signed a fre quency.
4. Press MENU twice to re
turn to the main dis
play
screen.
D. Ad vanced ClearScan:
This fea ture au to mates the pro -
cess of find
ing a clear group of inter-mod

nels and the clear
est chan
nels within those
groups. From the main dis play screen push Menu twice
to go to the MENU Screen and press SET to se
lect
ClearScan.
E. ClearScan
All:
This func tion scans all of the groups (fac -
tory and user) and re turns a list of groups ranked by the
num ber of free chan nels.
1. Once ClearScan
All has run, the screen will dis
play
the clear
est group with the open chan
nels in that
group. You can scroll through the other ranked groups
us ing UP/DOWN.
2. When you have the group you want, press SET to run
ClearScan
on that group. The dis play will now show
the group with the Chan nels ranked by clear ness and
the clear est chan nel will be flash ing.
3. Press SET to se lect and the clear est chan nel will be
in stalled, dis play will re turn to the main dis play.
NOTE:
Groups 17 and 18 have 16 chan nels and are marked
with an N (17n). These groups re quire the trans mit ters
to be in the LOW trans mit power set ting to work to -
gether. Af ter ClearScan All runs, the N groups will al -
ways be dis
played af
ter groups 1-18 and any user
de
fined groups no mat
ter how many chan
nels are
free. If you need to use more than 12 sys tems at one
time, scroll down to the N groups and use the clear est
group with Nor mal trans mit power.
F. ClearScan
Group:
this func tion will scan the group cur -
rently se lected, which is use ful for multi-sys tem setup.
1. Use ClearScan All on the first unit of a multi-sys tem
in stal la tion to se lect the clear est group.
2. For each sys tem added, leave all pre vi ously se lected
chan nel trans mit ters on, us ing Step 3 se lect the cur -
rent group, se lect ClearScan Group and press SET.
3. The dis play will show the re main ing clear chan nels in
the group with the clear est flash ing.
4. Se lect the de sired chan nel with UP/DOWN or sim ply
press SET for the clear est chan nel.
5. The chan nel will be se lected and re turn to the main dis play.
6. Re peat un til all sys tems are set up.
G. ClearScan Band:

chan nels or pre vi ous co or di na tion. This fea ture is use ful for
se lect ing one clear chan nel in a very busy RF en vi ron ment.
1. From the Op tions screen, se lect ClearScan Band and
press SET.
2. This scan will run un til SET is pressed again so it can be
used to eval u ate a site over an hour, day or even a week.
3. To end scan, press SET, the pro gram dis plays Group
21S with the clear est open fre quen cies in the band as -
signed chan nels (up to 16).
4. These fre quen cies will re main as signed to this group
un til ClearScan Band is run again.

21S are not co
