7.10.2 Parallel connection (Share-Bus)
Notice: this connection is recommended for voltage controlled
operation.
Attention! Only units of the same type may be
connected and operated together!
In order to gain a higher output current, two or more units
can be connected in parallel. Always take care of a sufficient
cross section of the used load cables. It is recommended to
use symmetric cable lengths and cross sections when
connecting units in parallel.
The Share-Bus operation enables a higher control dynamics
than the common master-slave principle, because it does
not define a certain unit as the leading unit. The unit with the
lowest output voltage turns into the master and controls the
other units, hence a symmetric output of current is gained.
Example configuration of a
parallel connection
of three
units:
!!!!!
Following connections are required: all (+) DC power outputs
are connected and all (–) DC power outputs are also
connected. Pin 5 (Share-Bus) and Pin 6 (AGND-Share-Bus)
of the terminal
System Bus
are also wired in parallel at all
units. See next page for a figure. If the remote sense feature
shall be used at the load, it is necessary to connect all
(+)Sense pins of every unit and all (–)Sense pins of every
unit connect them with the load. Else the sense pins are wired
as normal (described in „5. Installation“).
The set values of current should be set to maximum at all
units. Every unit displays its actual values of current and
power, there is no totals formation of the actual values. This
can only be realised with the System Link Mode. See „8.3
System Link Mode“ for details.
