VIA!2-8.4 Touch Panel Time-outs
Time-outs are used to help preserve the battery between charges and turn
the VIA!2-8.4 off during defined periods of inactivity. A fully charged bat-
tery will last approximately 2 hours with the display continuously active.
Selecting the Time-outs button from the System Setup page displays the
panel Time-out settings as shown in
Figure 2-7
.

The three types of Time-outs for AC power and battery operation that can
be set are User , System and Standby :
• User - Sets the VIA!2-8.4 screen to dark, all processes are func-
tioning in the background. Default is 15 sec.
• System - This time-out shuts down all processes except the CPU.
Default is 1 min.
• Standby - Screen is dark, all processes and CPU are shutdown,
unit is turned off. Default is Never when operating with AC Power,
and 3 hours when operating on Battery Power.
The VIA!2-8.4 panel time-outs work together in succession beginning with
the User , then System and finally Standby . This means that if the VIA!2-
8.4 panel is idle and not interrupted, it progressively times through each
time-out, finally powering down.
Time-outs values can be set to never, 5 sec., 15 sec., 30 sec., 1 min., 2
min., 3 min., 4 min., 5 min., 10 min., 30 min., 1 hr., 2 hr. and 3 hr.
