Time-Outs
Time-outs assure that your VIA!2-8.4 Wireless Touch Panel provides years
of uninterrupted system control. Time-outs put the touch panel into vari-
ous states of sleep after a specified time of non-use, conserving battery
life. See
VIA!2-8.4 Touch Panel Time-Outs
in Chapter 2.
NOTE: ELAN Recommends keeping time-outs short in
duration to increase battery life span.
Battery Conservation Tips
The VIA!2-8.4 Wireless Touch Panel has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery
providing up to 300-500 charge/discharge cycles. Here are some guide-
lines to get the most life from your battery:
• Avoid frequent full discharges because this puts additional
strain on the battery.
• Keep the lithium-ion battery cool. Avoid storing the battery in
places prone to excessive heat.
• To prolong the battery life during extended periods of inactivity
ELAN recommends these options:
1) Charge the battery. Remove the battery from the touch panel,
then re-install it back on to the unit. DO NOT PLACE TOUCH
PANEL BACK ON THE DESKTOP CRADLE. To remove and
re-install the battery:
a.) Remove the two screws holding the battery compartment
cover in place.
b.) Lift the battery up using the tab attached to the battery
housing.
c.) Using care, unplug the battery cable from the touch panel
and remove the battery.
d.) Using care, plug the battery cable back in to the battery
panel connector.
e.) Place the battery back in to the form fitted battery
compartment.
NOTE:
AC power must be used to restart the touch panel. Place
the touch panel on the desktop cradle and ensure that the
12 VDC power is plugged in prior to using that panel again.
