A kickback is invariably the result of using the
VARILEX
®
Akku angle grinder in an improper
manner, and can be avoided by observing
appropriate safety measures as described below.
a) Always hold the VARILEX
®
Akku angle grinder
tightly and position your body and arms such
that they could absorb any kickback forces.
Always use the additional handle, if available,
to give you the greatest possible control over
kickback forces or reaction torque when grin-
ding.
The operator can control kickback and reaction
torque through appropriate precautionary
measures.
b) Never put your hand close to the rotating
tools. A kickback could cause the tool to move
across your hand.
c) Physically avoid the area in which the grinder
is likely to move in a kickback situation. A kick-
back propels the tool in the opposite direction to
the rotation direction of the grinding disc at the
point at which it snags.
d)
Take a particularly cautious approach in
the vicinity of corners, sharp edges etc.
Avoid allowing tools to bounce off and/or snag
in workpieces. Rotating tools have a tendency to
snag when applied to corners and sharp edges
or when bouncing off surfaces. This results in a
loss of control and/or kickback.
e) Never use chain-type or serrated saw blades.
Insertable tools of this type often cause kickback
or a loss of control of the power tool.
