Chapter 5. The use of the software OTOWIN 5.3 Patient management
5.3.2 Importing a patient
The
OT O
WIN
software allows you to view the measurements taken from the device. Connect the device to the
computer to import the patient data into the
OT O
WIN
software.
Start the device and connect it to the computer via the
supplied USB cable. From the home screen select the
"USB" menu and the device will be detected by the
computer.
The first time you connect the device, the USB driver
will be installed automatically. Please refer to the para-
graph
5.2.1.
Start the
OT O
WIN
software. Go to the "Device" menu
and click on "Data" .
If the device is properly connected and the USB driver
is working, the patient list should refresh automatically.
There are two possibilities to import the selected pa-
tient(s) to the database, or to synchronise all patients (if
no patient is selected):

Save to database
•
Save to database without confirmation
Click Save to Database without selecting any patients, if you want to import all patients, or select the patient(s) to be
imported, then click Save to Database .
To register a patient in the database, it is necessary to
indicate the doctor or the operator who performed the
measurements. If the operator already exists in the da-
tabase, it is sufficient to select him and then click on
Validate . If not, it is possible to create a new one (see
paragraph 2.2.1 to know how to create an operator).
A detailed patient information sheet is provided. You
can add information such as the company, address, tel-
ephone number, etc.
Once the information has been entered and validated
(by clicking on the
Save button), a series of processes
is carried out by the software.
If the patient has been correctly imported, his or her
name will appear in the
"Patient" section of the
OT O
WIN
software.
If the patient already exists in the database, it will be
automatically recognised and synchronised with the pa-
tient in the device.
If several patients in the database are likely to match the
patient being imported,
OT O
WIN
offers the possibility
to choose the matching patient or simply create a new
one.
