Auto (THROTTLE) Mode
Using the Throttle & Pedaling with your feet.
Many people ride this way. For much of the time, they ride with
no electric power.
When they
encounter an incline or want to pull away from a junction, they simply turn the throttle to give the
bike the added power they need and usually keep pedaling. We recommend that you pedal as
well as use the throttle for maximum performance at all times, but there are times where a blip of
the throttle is all you need.
Throttle Only (No Pedal)
An eBike is not a motorbike, but it will function perfectly well using just the throttle. With not
peddling, turn the throttle to add power. You should not ride at speeds greater than 25km/h and
be very aware of other road users and pedestrians. The motor makes some noise, as we
believe having an quiet, but audible motor, is important to let the rider know it is engaged.
However, this sound probably won’t be heard by other road users, as it is less than the ambient
noise from a public location (birds, road noise, people, wind and so on).
You will drain the battery faster if you don’t assist it. Typically you will get between 10 and 20kms
if you use throttle only. As the motor is limited in capacity (and less than US and European
motors) avoid using throttle only on steep climbs. Depending on the weight of the rider and what
you are carrying, it might not pull you up the hill, and will slow down as that is physics at work.
On downhill sections, don’t apply the throttle! We recommend 2022km/h is a respectable and
safe speed to ride an electric bike, but obviously any bike can achieve far higher speeds
downhill.
