3.6 System controller and communication box
The system controller and its related components are physically placed in the communication box. The system
controller enables the communication and system monitoring.
The main components in the communication box are:
•
System controller unit (Eaton XC-303)
•
Relay output and I/O modules (Eaton XN322) that offer digital inputs for monitoring the breaker and relay status,
auxiliary relay outputs to activate battery pack wake-up signals, and circuit breaker tripping
•
Ethernet switch (Eaton PXE 6-port switch 10/100 Mb) that connects the xStorage system with the external
communication and management system
•
24 Vdc and 12 Vdc auxiliary power supplies to feed the system controller and the related components
•
Terminal blocks to ensure proper connections
