3.6.2.7 Rack the breaker in the cell

3.6.2.7.1 Open the breaker

1. Remove key “KD” from Lock #5 and insert key “KD” into Lock

#4. Rotate key “KD” to release key “KB”.

2. Insert key “KB” into Lock #1 and rotate key “KU”. This electri-

cally enables the 38 kV SEG&TD.

3. Turn the selector switch to the “OPEN” position (Figure 7).
4. On the remote operator depress the “Open” button. The

38 kV SEG&TD will open (Figure 49).

5. Return the selector switch to the “OFF” position and unplug the

remote operator (Figure 50).

3.6.2.7.2 Racking breaker to Connect position

1. Turn the selector switch to the “OFF” position and unplug the

remote operator.

2. Follow the same procedure as detailed in section 3.3: Steps 1

through 16 for racking the SEG&TD completely at "CONNECT"

position inside the cell.

3. The feeder can be now tested.

3.6.2.8 Probing the voltage:

1. Make sure selector switch is in the “OFF” position.
2. Plug in the remote operator to the receptacle in the front of the

38 kV SEG&TD.

3. Rotate the selector switch to the “Close” position.
4. On the remote operator, depress the “Close” buttons momen-

tarily; the 38 kV SEG&TD will charge and close automatically.

Thus, lower terminals are probed.

3.7 Removing the test probes

3.7.1 Open the breaker

1. Make sure the kirk keys follows the key positions as shown in

the table above.

2. Turn the selector switch to the “OPEN” position.
3. On the remote operator depress the “Open” buttons. The 38

kV SEG&TD will open.

4. Return the selector switch to the “OFF” position and unplug the

remote operator.
