Table 15. Typical Alarms and Conditions (continued)
Action
Possible Cause
Alarm or Condition
Output Short Circuit
(Alarm 58)
Fast Beeping Alarm
The UPS has detected an
abnormally low impdedance
placed on its output and considers
it a short circuit.
3000 VA Models:
The UPS shuts down after
five line cycles.
6000 VA Models:
If the UPS is in Normal
mode, the UPS transfers bypass if available;
otherwise, the UPS shuts down after five
line cycles. If the UPS is in Battery mode,
the UPS shuts down after five line cycles.
Heatsink Over Temperature
(Alarm 73)
Fast Beeping Alarm
The UPS has detected that one of
its heatsinks has exceeded the
maximum defined operating
temperature. Possible fan failure.
3000 VA Models:
Verify that the fans are
spinning and that the air intake vents on the
UPS are not blocked. After the maximum
temperature is reached, the UPS shuts
down.
6000 VA Models:
The UPS transfers to
Bypass mode if available. If bypass is not
available or the UPS is in power on or
Standby mode, the UPS transfers to fault
mode. Verify that the fans are spinning and
that the air intake vents on the UPS are not
blocked. The alarm clears when the
heatsink temperature drops 5°C (9°F) below
the warning level.
Fatal EEPROM Fault
(Alarm 53)
Continuous Alarm
There is EEPROM data corruption
due to a failed device or incorrect
flash upgrade.
Contact your service representative.
Fan Failure
(Alarm 193)
Continuous Alarm
The UPS has detected that one or
more fans are not functioning
correctly.
This is an alarm only. Contact your service
representative immediately and remove the
load.
Bypass AC Over Voltage
(Notice 3)
Slow Intermittent Alarm
The measured voltage on Bypass
has exceeded the upper voltage
limit specification for bypass
operation.
Check the bypass utility. Check that the
Bypass settings are configured correctly for
your location. See Table 4 on page 26.
Bypass AC Under Voltage
(Notice 4)
Slow Intermittent Alarm
The measured voltage on Bypass
is less than the lower voltage limit
specification for bypass operation.
Check the bypass utility. Check that the
Bypass settings are configured correctly for
your location. See Table 4 on page 26.
Bypass Under/Over Frequency
(Notice 5)
Slow Intermittent Alarm
The measured frequency on
Bypass is ouside of either the
upper or lower frequency limit
specification for bypass operation.
Check the bypass utility. Check that the
Bypass settings are configured correctly for
your location. See Table 4 on page 26.
