10 Adjusting the needle thread tension

10.1 Adjusting the needle thread regulator

The needle thread regulator determines the tension applied to guide
the needle thread around the hook. The required tension depends on the
thickness of the sewing material, the thread strength, and the stitch length.

Proper setting

The loop of the needle thread slides at low tension over the thickest point
of the hook, without forming loops or snagging.

To adjust the needle thread regulator:

Press down and turn the hand crank and monitor the progress of
the needle thread around the hook.

Loosen the screw (1).

Move the needle thread regulator (2)
