Section 5: General Maintenance
WARNING:
Before servicing machine, read the Service and Maintenance section of the Safety
Instructions.
IMPORTANT:
If for any reason arc welding is to be done, always ground rotor to frame of machine
to prevent arcing in bearings.
Section 4: Engine Maintenance
Engine oil level, engine coolant level, air filters, and fan belt tension should be checked daily. All debris, and
combustible or ignitable material should be cleared from the engine compartment daily or more often as conditions
warrant. When cleaning the engine compartment, pay particular attention to the top of the engine. Follow the engine
manufacturer’s recommendations for the replacement of parts and fluids, and follow the manufacturer’s recommended
maintenance schedule . Engine specifications should be found in the Operation and Maintenance manual for the
engine.
5.1 Welding Procedure
Welding on a machine that is equipped with an Electronic Engine.
Proper welding procedures are necessary in order to avoid damage to the computerized equipment. Computerized
equipment includes but is not limited to the following; the Engine Control Module (ECM), electronic governor, HPTO
Control Module (if equipped), Omnex Radio Receiver (if equipped), and ABS Controller (if equipped).
If at all possible, the component that is to be welded should be removed from the machine for welding. If removal of
the component is not possible, the following procedure must be followed when welding on a machine that is equipped
with electronic engine. This procedure is considered the safest and should provide minimun risk of electronic
component damage.
NOTE:
Do not ground the welder to electrical components such as the ECM or sensors. Improper
grounding can also damage the drive train bearings or hydraulic components. Clamp the ground cable
from the welder to the component that will be welded. Place the clamp as close as possible to the
weld. This will help reduce the possibility of damage.
