8.3 Construction
The instrument consists of a static (1) and a moveable (2) part. Both parts are
linked by a strain gauge sensor and a spring with defined stiffness. The
moveable part is guided by a mechanically by 6 ball-bearings to measure the
initiated force independently from the initiation point (e. g. at the edge of the
initiation area or in the middle).
The force is initiated on areas on both sides of 100 mm diameter each. In
home position the distance between the right and left initiation area is
115 mm. The maximum displacement is 30 mm, i.e. the minimum area
distance is 85 mm. In idle position the sensor has a pretension of
approximately 10-20 N.

The applied force at the initiation area (3) between the static (1) and the
moveable (2) part will be determined during measurement.
