HCC-11 Heating current and circuit monitoring module
Application
The heating circuit monitoring module HCC-11 is designed to monitor electric circuits in the range 1.25A
to 40A which are switched by solid-state relays (SSR). The HCC-11 system is primarily intended for
monitoring heating circuits and also for detecting and localizing faults in single heating elements. The
failure of a single heating element is reliably monitored. The module detects over- and undercurrents in
the heating circuit beyond
±
15% nominal current. Blown fuses, failed and interrupted SSR as well as
those in half-wave operation are also registered. An adjustable alarm response delay of 2 to 40 secs
rules out fault messages generated by voltage drops.
Malfunctions are indicated by a red light-emiting diode (LED) on the HCC-11 and must be
localized systematically.
The alarm output allows up to 100 HCC-11 modules to be connected to a collective alarm (load
≤
2kOhm).
The module is designed for installation directly on the SSR. A DIN-rail mounting set is available.
A plastic enclosure ensures shock hazard protection according to VBG 4.
Safety regulations
The HCC-11 monitoring module is
designed for installation in a switch cabinet
and should be installed so as to provide
protection against humidity and severe
contamination. It is also important to ensure
that the permissible ambient temperature
range (0 to 60°C; 21 to 140°F) is not
exceeded. The module must be used only
for this intended purpose.
The module must be connected by a
qualified electrician according to the
relevant VDE directives in Germany and in
compliance with local regulations.
The signal and auxiliary supply cables must
not be laid together with the power supply
cables (power current).
Before assembly and before opening
the housing, the system must be
disconnected from the mains.
