c) Safety
When using the seat of the Dragon at or near floor level some riders wish to put their feet
off the foot-rest.
This is dangerous.
It is possible to drag the rider's feet under the drive
wheels by driving in this position which can cause injury.
Do not do this.
The back of the carriage is covered by a grey cover which is connected to safety cutouts to
prevent over-run at the top and bottom of the elevator and to prevent finger traps within the
elevator frame. If you press the “up” button, for instance, and put your hand against the
top of the grey cover as it is going up, you will find that there is a quiet click, as the cutout
switch operates, and it stops immediately. The same is true for downward travel.
There is also a warning system to alert you to any fault in the belts. Should any one of the
four belts become slack or break, a beeper will sound. It is still safe to operate the elevator
in this condition, but advice and assistance should immediately be sought from
Dragonmobility Ltd. In the unlikely event of two belts failing the beeper will change to a
double beep. Again, the elevator will continue to work, but extra strain may be put on the
remaining two belts, so it is inadvisable to use the SnapDragon. If a third belt were to fail, a
triple beeper will sound. The elevator carriage and seat would still be held on the final belt,
but on no account should the SnapDragon be used in this case. For complete safety,

Overload Protection
The SnapDragon is capable of delivering high power for short periods of time to overcome
obstacles, however some obstacles are impossible to negotiate, such as a brick wall!
If the SnapDragon is driven against an immovable obstacle, so that it is producing the
maximum power it is capable of delivering, you will hear a ticking sound which warns you
that no more power is available. If the SnapDragon is not overcoming the obstacle and
moving on, the user should attempt to negotiate away from the obstacle by reversing
direction or should just let go of the joystick.
If the joystick is operated at its power limit for longer than ten seconds the controller's
protection circuits will operate. Initially, the ticking sound will develop into an insistent
chirrup, as an audible warning that the controller is in danger of overheating. It will then
automatically start to reduce the power available, rather than turn off the motors, allowing
the user to move away under control.

. Usually it is possible to chose another way of driving past the obstacle
or, occasionally, it may be necessary to get assistance to get clear. Trying to drive the
SnapDragon in a way which keeps the warning signal going will cause overheating leading
to long term reduction of power, and will eventually
