9. After 5 seconds you will see the LED lights on the helicopter's motor pods display
a rotating pattern for a few seconds and you will hear a beep indicating it is
armed. The LEDs remain on continuously and do not blink.
10. The Draganflyer X8 helicopter is now armed.
Takeoff
An armed Draganflyer X8 can be dangerous, so maintain control over the
handheld controller.
After arming the Draganflyer X8, with the throttle in its neutral position press the
Rotor- Engage/Disengage switch up and release. The motors will begin spinning.
Make sure all rotors are spinning equally before advancing to take off. Smoothly
and slowly move the throttle (left joystick) ahead slightly and then slowly and
smoothly return it to its neutral position, the helicopter will perform an auto
takeoff to a height of about 4-5 ft or 1.2-1.3 meters.
Do not hold the throttle in
the advanced position, simply advance the throttle and return it to the center
position.
Do not let the throttle spring back to its centre position, as this may
prevent the helicopter from recognizing the correct throttle position.
The
throttle must be returned to its neutral (center) position after takeoff in
order to recognize takeoff is complete. You can then increase altitude or
decrease altitude by moving the throttle up or down
Landing
Bring the helicopter to where you want to land. Remember the Draganflyer X8 is
designed for vertical take off and landing so try to make your landing as vertical
as possible with no movement in any direction. Decrease the throttle to begin
descending, you do not have to continue to decrease the throttle you just need to
make it begin to descend and maintain that speed. Once you are about 30 cm (1
ft) off the ground commit to the landing and hold the throttle down to its lowest
position. Once on the ground and with the throttle at its lowest position
simultaneously hold the Rotor- Engage/Disengage switch down until the rotors
stop. Remember this only stops the rotors it does not disarm the helicopter. When
holding the throttle at its lowest position ensure you are not applying yaw to the
left or the right as this will cause some of the rotors to increase in speed.
In the event any of the helicopters rotors have been stopped due to contact with
any object it is vital that you shut down the rotors immediately following the
above procedures. Failing to do so may cause the speed controllers to burn out.
